W-CAT-EVBT Battery Test Box

The W-CAT-EVBT models are a specially designed test box to enable remote electrical safety testing of either a 50V, 300V or 600V battery pack with specific connectors.

W-CAT-EVBT-001:

  • 50V

W-CAT-EVBT-002:

  • 300V
  • 70mm2 Cable
  • +Ve PL18W-301-70

W-CAT-EVBT-003:

  • 600V
  • 35mm2 cable
  • +Ve PL18X-201-35
  • -Ve PL18W-201-35

The test box has the following test points incorporated:

  • 1000V CAT III test points for a Voltage check using RS PRO RS-9331 1000V Voltage Tester
  • 1000V CAT III 4mm banana socket test points for an Insulation Test using a Fluke 1587 Insulation Multimeter.
  • 5000V CAT 0 4mm banana sockets and W-5600H05-100-0 test lead for an HiPot test using a Seaward HAL103 HiPot tester.
  • Blanking plugs are provided for the Voltage and Insulation Test Points to be used when not in direct use.

General User Instructions:

Conducting electrical tests:

Before starting, ensure all blanking plugs are fitted to the test box and place on a flat surface.  Then connect the EV connectors to the battery connection points.

Voltage Test:

  1. Remove the voltage test point blanking plugs.
  2. Noting the correct polarity insert the voltage tester probe tips in to the voltage test points until you feel the tips reach the internal test points.
  3. Conduct the voltage test using the voltage tester.
  4. Once the voltage test is complete, remove the probe tips and replace blanking plugs.

Insulation Test:

  1. Remove the tip cover from the insulation test probe so that it exposes the lantern tip.
  2. Remove the +Ve insulation Test Point blanking plug.
  3. Insert the insulation test probe lantern tip into the +Ve Insulation Test Point.
  4. Conduct the +Ve Insulation Test.
  5. Once the test is complete, remove the test probe and replace the blanking plug.
  6. Remove the -Ve Insulation Test Point blanking plug.
  7. Insert the insulation test probe lantern tip into the +Ve Insulation Test Point.
  8. Conduct the -Ve Insulation Test.
  9. Once the test is complete, remove the test probe and replace the blanking plug.

HiPot Test:

  1. Ensure all blanking plugs are fitted to the voltage and insulation test points.
  2. Connect the W-5600H05-100-0 4mm Banana Plug to Seaward HAL Tester Test lead to the HAL 103.
  3. Insert the test lead banana plug into the +Ve test point and conduct the HiPot test.
  4. Once the test is complete, remove the banana plug and insert into the -Ve test point.
  5. Conduct the -VE HiPot test.
  6. Once complete, remove the 4mm banana plug lead.
